How do I build my own cake?
Open Build a Cake and work through the Customise section.
- Choose the options marked with an asterisk, which are required
- Add any extras you want, such as drips, piping and decorations
- Set your delivery date and add a gift note

Yes. Build a Cake lets you design your own birthday cake, picking colours and toppings to suit the birthday. Add your message as a gift note.
How much does Build a Cake cost?
Build a Cake starts from about $60. The final price depends on the options you add.
Does a cake I build contain nuts?
That depends on the options you choose. Check each flavour and decoration before you order for anyone with an allergy.
Can a cake I build be delivered today?
Order before 12pm Monday to Friday for same-day delivery between 12:30pm and 5:30pm. Cake Mail delivers the cakes you build across Sydney Metropolitan and selected surrounding suburbs.

How do I decorate a custom cake at home?
Start with a plain frosted cake, then add one drip, one piped border and one topping.
- Bake and stack your sponge layers, then cover them in buttercream.
- Chill the cake until the buttercream is firm.
- Pour a ganache drip around the top edge.
- Pipe a border of buttercream swirls on top.
- Add your topping: chocolates, biscuits, sprinkles or a topper.
